History
Tower Grove Park was originally part of La Petite Prairie, which was settled by the French in the early 18th century
Formerly known as Oak Hill, Tower Grove developed following the extension of streetcar lines from downtown St. Louis.
Officially opened to the public in 1872, Tower Grove Park has been characterized as the largest and best preserved 19th-century Gardenesque style city park in the United States.
